Brian Sterr

Brian served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer from 2004-2007 in Tandahimba, Tanzania where he taught mathematics at a public secondary school. In addition to teaching, he started a girls’ soccer team, created new sports fields, led a field trip up Mt. Kilimanjaro, and tutored students for their national exams. He received his Bachelor’s degree in History, Math, and German from Ripon College in 2004. He holds Master’s degrees in Math Education, Mathematics, and International Affairs from the City College of New York. He served as Executive Director of TETEA from 2012 to 2015. Currently, Brian is a math teacher at Stuyvesant High School in New York City. He is also involved with coaching the New York City Math Team for high school students.
